Fusible Adhesive Shows Through Wool Coating

Visible spots after fusing do not prove a single cause. Compare the shell face before fusing, after cooling and against a clean unfused cutting.

Fabric inspection at Fred Textile

Separate the causes

Adhesive reaches the face

Map spots against the fusible’s adhesive pattern and inspect the full layered assembly.

Equipment contamination

Check clean control material processed on the same equipment under an approved trial.

Surface appearance changes

Compare side lighting and nap direction; a compressed surface may look spotted without adhesive penetration.

Steps before deciding

  1. Identify shell roll, fusible lot and adhesive side.
  2. Retain unfused, newly fused and cooled specimens.
  3. Record validated equipment settings and actual trial conditions.
  4. Ask the fusible supplier to review compatibility before changing settings.
  5. Approve bond, handfeel and face appearance after care.

Worked example

Hypothetical example: spots also appear on a clean control without fusible. Investigate equipment contact before attributing all marks to adhesive strike-through.

Buyer questions

Can I lower temperature until spots disappear?

An unvalidated reduction may leave an inadequate bond; review the complete process.

Is a peel result enough?

No. Face appearance and garment-care compatibility remain separate gates.
