Separate the causes
Shell response
Run a shell-only control through an approved comparable exposure and record dimensional change.
Fusible restraint
Compare assembled and shell-only trials using identified components.
Handling or measurement
Check whether the panel was measured hot, stretched flat or at different marked positions.
Steps before deciding
- Mark consistent width and length reference points.
- Record shell, fusible and process identities.
- Measure before treatment and after agreed cooling or conditioning.
- Trial the corrected process on actual panel geometry.
- Approve dimensions, bond and drape together.
Worked example
Hypothetical example: the shell-only control changes 0.5%, while the fused assembly changes 2%. The difference supports a component/process investigation; it is not proof of one material’s fault.
Buyer questions
Can I enlarge the pattern immediately?
First establish a stable approved process so compensation does not conceal variability.
Does a loose-fabric test settle it?
It does not reproduce every assembly interaction.
