Factory sourcing: three decisions
Confirm the Fred Textile company and production route
Ask which Fred Textile entity will appear on your quotation, contract and invoice, and where the selected fabric will be made. Confirm the in-house and external steps for that order. A machinery photo cannot establish the fibre content, performance or origin of a particular delivery; match the article reference and responsible company across the order documents.
Choose a sample that answers your actual question
A hanger sample helps compare colour and surface; a larger cutting helps assess drape; sample yardage is needed for a meaningful sewing and pressing trial. For a tailored coat, check lapel support and layered seam bulk. For an unlined double-face coat, confirm whether the fabric supports the intended edge construction. Keep an identified approval sample rather than relying on a photo or an unlabelled swatch.
Make bulk approval part of the quotation
Agree the finished composition, GSM, usable width, colour reference and care route before comparing prices. Identify who will approve shade, handle and test results, how changes will be recorded, and what happens when a lot misses an agreed requirement. Ask for the inspection and packing scope in writing; do not assume that a good development sample alone controls bulk delivery.
Your wool coating enquiry checklist
- Send a coat sketch or reference, intended construction, full fibre composition, finished GSM and usable width. If uncertain, describe the problem: stiff drape, seam bulk or a difficult edge.
- Separate sample yardage from bulk quantity. State the number of styles and colours and metres per colour; ask Fred Textile to confirm minimum quantities for the actual fabric programme.
- Define the colour and handle standard, directional nap or check repeat, and the sample stages that require your written approval.
- State the intended care method and agreed test methods, conditions and acceptance criteria. Request article-specific evidence rather than treating a general standards reference as certification.
- Compare the same delivered scope: unit and currency, usable width, finishing, testing, packing, delivery term and date. Confirm current capacity, lead time and payment details before committing.
Compare the same quotation scope
Illustrative comparison: two suppliers offer a similar-looking wool coating. One quote describes a finished article at an agreed usable width with inspection included; the other leaves finishing and inspection open. The lower price is not yet a like-for-like offer. Ask for those missing terms and test both candidates with the same coat construction before deciding. This is a purchasing example, not a customer story or a Fred Textile price quotation.
Factory sourcing questions
Can I contact the Fred Textile factory directly?
Yes. Email mrkcal@fredtextile.com or use the Fred Textile contact page with your fabric brief. Ask the team to confirm the manufacturing entity, proposed article, sample route and order-specific terms. This guide does not promise ready stock, a fixed lead time or a universal MOQ.
What should I request before placing a bulk order?
Request an identified approved sample, the finished fabric specification, written commercial terms and an agreed inspection and change-control plan. If traceability or a certificate is required, specify the exact product, site, order and validity scope and ask for supporting documents; a website reference is not sufficient.
Send your brief to Fred Textile
Email mrkcal@fredtextile.com with your coat sketch or reference photo, desired composition, GSM, usable width, colours, metres per colour, sampling needs, delivery destination and target date. Tell Fred Textile which problem you need to solve and which specification fields are still undecided. This makes the first factory reply more useful than a request for the cheapest wool coating.
Manufacturing source and limits
The facilities link is Fred Textile's own manufacturing description, not an independent factory audit, product test report or certificate. The purchasing steps and comparison are editorial guidance; confirm current terms for the selected article.
